Scoreboards

The reason to always keep written score is to ensure a record showing the progression of points. If your scoreboard shows 7 point and your opponent's shows 6, and you both agree that the game ended with the player winning 2 points, the player whose written scoresheet shows a score of 4 for the game before is going to get the ruling from the director.
The scoreboard is a great means for the players to confirm that their written scores agree without the need to keep looking over or announcing and hope the person heard you.
I prefer having the big, easy to read numbers in sight during play. But I keep written score also for the reasons stated.
