Anybody who has taken lessons from me for awhile can tell you that this:

I would say this is an "exception", mainly because a four point block is a beautiful thing, and you can get one here but he's unlikely to counter by making one of his own any time soon. The purpose of a 17 point hit is to make the game break in your favor by putting you ahead in the race, and him on the bar. Here, making a four point block produces an equivalent gain with less risk. My play would be 13/7, 24/23.
