DOUBLE ELIMINATION: Let's compare records: In a full 64-player field (if less than 64 players, their are byes in the MAIN and the SECOND CHANCE), the "undefeated" player has a 6-0 record;
The last man standing in the Second Chance has an 8-1 record; He then goes on to play the FINALS. If he loses, he gets 2nd place monies, if he wins (in the typical Double Elimination format) he then plays a second match against the preciously undefeated player (now once defeated) for FIRST PLACE or SECOND PLACE.
Their records going into this second match are: 9-1 vs 6-1. Still worth while ?? I say YES! However, in directing my two ABT events this year, we will ONLY HAVE ONE match between these two players -- due to recognizing (and lobbied by the players) that there is already enough penalty for losing ONE match on the way to the finals.
_____________patrick (the MFIC) (I too do not know what MONRAD is, perhaps a CHESS oriented format?)
