Theft at Recent ABT Events

I would keep it private. In my value system, protecting the innocent is more important than punishing the guilty.
Certainly glad to hear that, and knowing you fairly well. what I expected.
If candidates appeared, I would have directors keep an eye on them.
Personally I feel the directors are already burdened with enough responsibilities. However there may be another related action: At the calcutta auction the players are informed that these thefts have occurred at recent tournaments. And the suggestions are: A) Keep an eye on your own equipment. B) Keep an eye out in general.
If a thief is present at the Calcutta auction s/he is put on guard that people are watching -- a potential deterrent. Secondly, even if not present, the vigilance could prevent a theft.
I for one have been lax in watching my boards over the years, and in fact have left my board (and driven home without it) at least twice in Novi! But that was a battleship few would want to steal. Since I've had my Taki board I've kept some of the old habits, like leaving the board in the playing room during dinner break. This announcement (thread) has certainly awakened me that I should be more careful.
