I'll Kick it Off -- Recording Controversy in Atlanta

Oh Boy! Another brouhaha. "Video-Friendly" has been my recommendation for some time now. I read all the postings here --down thru the Riles 9:57pm entry. I think that David Rockwell expressed it best "Matches Are Public NOT Private."
Joining a tournament definitely opens up one's matches to full observation while they are being played.
As a director, I would have to hear a really strong reason, why a "championship level" match should not be recorded. However, I do believe that the opponent has the right to request that the recording (and subsequent analysis) only be shared between the two players in the match.
Reading all the posts, without seeing anything from Glaeser or one of the directors involved, I would have ruled that recording the match would be allowed.
Let's quit being nay-sayers and just move forward with what's good for the game of backgammon. Rolling the dice for it in the Atlanta situation was not an unreasonable solution, but the better choice should probably have been to allow the recording --particularly since Ray had already conceded to recordings in at least two other matches.
