Probably should depend on the conditions, such as face-to-face vs. internet.

Have you talked to Mary? IMO the best method is to find the range of the current market and adjust from there. (OK, that's probably what you're doing asking here.) That way you'll be competitive. Then again if it's the Sultan of Dubai you're tutoring, an ounce of gold an hour sounds about right.

Another issue is what it's costing you not doing what you would normally do. Figure your online poker rate. (This may not be too relevant if it's far from the going rate.) In your case, though, as much time as you spend in the bar you would have to pay people to let you tutor them. :)
