because no one ever gets cheated at poker?

Nor am I a pro (at either). Let's just stick with face-to-face gaming (as opposed to online, which has it's own, sometimes unique, problems).
Cards can be manipulated, too. At home games it's more likely, of course. But casino employees are humans who can be influenced, unfortunately.
The book Gambling Wizards had short biographies of both poker and backgammon pros (and participants of other wagering endeavors such as sports betting and horse betting). I only read it once, and that was shortly after it came out (so ~2003-04). I didn't know anything about professional poker at that time but I do remember how shady that game was portrayed compared to, for example, BG. Maybe it's just the author's bias, or mine. I guess I should reread it, when I get some time....
