Cube error rates

RAY: This is plausible BS, but it is BS nonetheless. Doubling too early creates WAY more problems than it removes. It escalates the danger of being redoubled, which increases the pressure on you when you are deciding on making a checker play. Therefore while it is easy to SAY you can just go for the jugular because you not longer have access to the cube, it is not so easy to make those loose double hits the positions sometimes require.
I didnt say doubling early was good, I just said thats how the bots train you. I also said that if ER is your only concern, (in more words) then doubling early is the way to keep that down. Personally, I play to win, and dont give a damn what my ER is - just prefer if its low rather than high.
But, I do believe that once the cube is turned, then your plays become easier. I also believe that if you are scared to make the loose double hit thats the right play with the cube on 2, then you would be scared to do it in the middle. You are also probably playing for stakes that are too high as well. My personal ethos on checker plays is that you make the right play at all times, period. Doesnt matter where the cube is or what level its at, play the right move. I am only human, and can only do that so often though (I strive to do it more often).
I heard someone tell me a long while back that the looser you act with the cube, the bigger the swings you will see, the tighter, the smaller swings.
As for luck in BG? I am absolutely not one to gripe and moan about my luck. I get plenty of it (good and bad). Everyone has their bad beats, I have SO MANY myself, but then again, I forget about the bad beats I've dealt out too. Shit happens. All the time. Sometimes it happens to me, sometimes it happens to my opponents.
Anything else? Dont think so!
Keene :)
