I still think this premise that 'repeating' missed doubles shouldn't accumulate is all wet. Let's say in a long game I failed to double when I should have on moves 4, 20, 24, 26, and 31. Should I only be charged with one missed double? I don't think so. Just because the missed doubles came on moves 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 shouldn't disqualify the failed doubles on moves 5-8. In almost all situations, 4-8 WERE different positions.
