Cube error rates

Your point is convincing. Still how can I loose more equity through consecutive omitting cubes than if I double on the very first move? Sounds still counter intuitive to me.
What about Joe's suggestion? Charge the largest cube error (with my addition) on every cube level. Ie. 1,4,16 when doubling early and 1,2,8,32 when being doubled?
At least this would have the property that the too early cubes and the too late cubes are punished by the same amount. The longer I think about that, the more it looks well to me.
ciao Frank
