I think because several times the dice rewarded you with a non market losing sequence.
If the calculated equity difference between not doubling and doubling was 0.2, then, on average, you should lose 0.2 by not doubling. If on average you are not losing 0.2, then the calculated equity difference was wrong to begin with.
