If we played BG with a baffle tube and touch move and a clock...

I proposed enlargening the base (think of a common egg timer = hourglass base). The larger base would be removable so that the device would still fit inside the board. When I proposed this to Phil he said "...more expensive...." True, but as mentioned earlier, you've got to evaluate the tradeoff.
One problem with a larger base is where you place the darn thing when you roll. In the center of the RH (or either) playing surface? Eventually it will interfere with the checkers there.
Perry was pretty adamant that the current prototypes are too noisy, and I agree. He has some ideas for quieting them down, but... tradeoffs.
The more I read and think, the more I go back to baffle boxes. For those who like to shake (or shake, shake, shake), they can do that with their dice in the cup before feeding them into the baffle box. I believe (someone please verify) that Phil's baffle box is not noisy, as it is lined with rubber. Etc., etc.
