With a 25 pip lead I'm looking to get home and start the bearoff.
It follows that 6/2* is out.
The 10-point is a better blocking point but I'm not that interested in blocking, rather I want safe landing spots. The 9-point is 6-away from the made 3-point -- again very bad for blocking/priming but good for getting home safely.
But Blue can also make the 7-point. Besides good landing point and sixes clearing safely to the acepoint (not a plan, but might be necessary at crunchtime), it DOES block a single checker and thus can double as an attacking (preferably PoH = point-on-head) cache. In addition it fills a gap which might prove fatal during the bearin. The alternative 10/6 doesn't look too bad but I think the landing spot + potential builders + filled gap on the 7-point are probably better.
Leaving an indirect shot in the outfield this turn is not much of a problem due to White's blotty homeboard, as long as it doesn't pay off to doubles which hit and cover. Oops, after making the 7-point, 5-5 hits and covers one of the two blots. That's a consideration but it might not be a play-stopper. I think it's worth the risk.
Summary: 7(2).
