Controversy in the Chou

You and Phil could have immediately protested any cheering of the dice number, as that is a clear violation of the rules and unfair.
No one actually does this.
And, in spite of the fact that it is a nonconsulting chou, several feel it is perfectly OK to make pronounced, visible gestures during the play, or lambast the captain after the play is over, whether or not it could come up again or whether or not the captain cares or has any wish to be consulted.
As Carter points out the change is recent but there should be a penalty in place IMHO. Not necessarily to enforce all the time but at least so that it is an option.
Your lack of protest, in effect condones the violation and in this environment the dice were picked up without hitting. Therefore, yes I think it reasonable for your side to consider giving them some slack.
I don't follow you here. RDR's response was that they should have been punished for the violation rather than rewarded.
I do think their conduct in the past should have been part of your deliberation as well.
I have only been in the chouette for a few months. Phil has been playing for 30 years or something. So take my comments with a grain of salt, and probably others have a better perspective than I do. But I don't subscribe to the notion that if someone is a fish he can do whatever he wants.
