Controversy in the Chou

For the record...I was not there but if I had been there...
A...if I was on the side with the captain I would have been pissed off at the captain and been happy/appreciative that Phil and Matt offered a wash
B...if I was on the side of the box I am 100% sure there is no way in hell I would have paid a point. I am also pretty sure I would have been pissed off by the fact that I probably would have washed the game just to keep the peace.
Going back to last week's situation where I had doubled 2 people and got 2 takes, then later doubled the captain and another person and got 2 drops, I then rolled my dice, made my play, and then picked up my dice before one of my opponents sat down across from me. I wasn't trying to screw anyone I just continued the game with Matt sitting in the next seat accross from me and Phil standing right there. One of my opponents was in the bathroom and the other walked around the table and sat down. My partner saw my play but no one else that was there looked at the board while I rolled and made my play. Even though it was my partner that was the only other person to see the play how is it possible to rule that I acted improperly? It was stated that I did something wrong...it was the equivilent to fast rolling. I truely believe this is an absurd ruling. I aggree that I probably should have waited for my opponent to sit down ut there were three other people right there so I just played...not thinking twice of it. If we are in a "friendly" chouette how does my play not stand? Why am I forced to reroll and replay the position? Phil, you state that you do not bend the rules to anyones favor but it seems to me like the rules were bent against me here.
For the record...IMHO this is the least friendly chouette I have ever played in on any regular basis. I am not saying by any stretch that I am a peach but I do not need to be there for cosmic BS to happen...hense this wonderful thread.
