Controversy in the Chou

1. This has nothing to do with whether or not the participants are fish; 2. Calling someone would do no good...any experienced player we would call could only rule one way, and that is by the rules....the question is what are the acceptable norms in our local chouette; as for pure rulings, calling someone not only makes sense, but I would guess that at least once a month I get a phone call asking to make a ruling. Since I was there, what "higher power" could they possibly call on? 3. In hindsight, I would handle this differently. I would state that we will play the game out both ways, and then we will ask any three experienced players we could agree on what was fair and use those results. The only reason I caved in at the time is that some of the people protesting and saying that Matt and I were being unreasonable were good friends and people who's opinions I respected (Scott for example), and even though i felt they were not experienced enough in chouette rules and protocol, I did not want them to feel cheated or pissed off. And it was NOT because I didn't want to loser players who were fish, but because I didn't want to lose players who were friends (and also fish).
