I really don't agree.

Anonymity can be the jumpstart for solving crimes, improvements in the workplace, etc.

But like anonymous tips to the police, it is hearsay, not evidence; only something to provoke thought, tell those interested where to start looking and prompt the right people to start answering questions. Also, the credibility of the anonymous must always be questioned more than someone who's reputation is known. But as has been said many times, all posts should discuss facts and actions a person took, and should not attack a person themselves. I am all for allowing the anonymous statement of facts. But attacking people anonomously is not only wrong, but a cowardly act and such statements have no place on this forum.

We don't have mobsters running the game of backgammon, but that does not mean that people may not have legitimate fears that prevent them from making their views known.

I happen to have the opinion in the case of the WSOB that there may have been all kinds of errors made and decisions changed, and various people upset in the process. Fine, lets talk about that in a constructive manner and try to improve things for the future. But get real - these guys have put in tremendous effort and money and time to make the WSOB one of the most exciting and publicly visible things to hit backgammon. It isn't perfect, and there's politics and turf wars and ruffled feathers and maybe people who feel slighted. And its a business and it goes without saying that investors are in it to make a profit, not to be a charity for equity chasers. But think about it. In the end, they only win if we win. These guys deserve our thanks; not to be spat on.
