(I wrote Linda a long feedback e-mail. To comment on your highlights:)
Tourney (general) This has always been a fun Ty for me, when I've been able to attend. It continues to improve with experience and effort of Linda et al. Overall a fine tournament which I will try and attend every year. I agree wholeheartedly with your critique of the auction format: a professional auctioneer (Mike Plog) handling the bidding and a professional comedian (Phil Simborg) keeping the players/bidders attention.
clocks "Clocks on request" of either player was the right step this year, IMO. It would be interesting to know the history of the matches that led to your delays. One thing we are all learning -- clocks don't mean matches end quickly, just "on time". But if insufficient time is allotted for the matchlength, clocks won't make up for that. Peoria (Open event) had 11-, 9-, 7-pointers for the three brackets (Main, Cons, LC) which I like. But if people expect ALL 11-point matches to finish in two hours I believe they are dreaming. (This is not a negative comment on this Ty nor a rebut of Adam, as I don't even know how much time they were allotting. But I think it's a problem which is going to eventually rear its ugly head if not given attention by all tournament directors.)
Last Chance I like the progressive kind. If your dislike is mostly from having to wait a long time on Saturday night to play a scheduled match, possibly having Sunday begin with a 16 player bracket ("octal finals") would help alleviate that. Unfortunately there are three types of BG players: earlybirds (like me), night owls, and those who stay up round the clock. I (unsurprisingly) would prefer earlier start times and do away with starting after about 10 PM (so matches are finished by not much later than midnight). But I know others want to go in the other direction, so someone is likely to always a bit out of their (time & comfort) zone.
