I concur. The rules are clear, but not every possible variation can (or even should) be documented. And YES, Phil is NOT BEING CONSISTENT with his previously aired position of FOLLOW THE RULES as defined.

The forced play, may be only played one way, or possibly more than one way --both leaving a shot. Not all of us see things as quickly as others, therefore WAIT UNTIL THE DICE ARE PICKED UP (no early rolling chouette or not).

And, as a director, I love the 2009 tournament rule that deals with "early rolling": the player, whose dice are still on the table, may change his play, and then allow or disallow the early-roll to stand. It puts some clout to the rule DO NOT ROLL EARLY.
