My thoughts for a potential rule change...

...If I played to the wrong score and lost I would have just shut up and take the loss.
To me this isn't a perfect solution as a dilemma has been created.
Why should a player 'hide' a fact regarding an impropriety from the director? Answer (presumably): because he fears director will make a bad ruling. (By 'bad' here I mean a ruling that the player feels is incorrect.)
I don't know what I would have done in Rory's shoes. On the one hand I want the result of the match as played to the wrong score to stand. But by ignoring reporting that I had broken a rule (unintentionally, but nonetheless...), am I not now consciously breaking the rule?
If it were too late for director to act (e.g. if the next round had already begun) then I see no harm/dilemma remaining silent. But that wasn't the situation is Rory's case.
