So now seeing this post after the prior position, I'm glad to see that I did not misjudge the size of Petko's balls.

23/17 is for sure. I seems clear that if we do not lift, then we can cash on the next roll after being missed. But if not missed, we often get gammoned. If we lift, only 43 and 44 escape and do not leave either a single or a double shot.

Having cube access usually argues for the non-volatile plays that aim to creep up on an efficient double. White's homeboard will deteriorate with every move that does not escape. Between outfield control, ongoing numbers to make the 3 point naturally and a hopefully soon to be crashing white board, I think lifting wins enough games with the cube to not be worth the gammon losses by playing the alternative.

I lift. However, I again suspect that Petko did not slot last turn in order to lift here.
