Settings for playing Snake (backgame)

How do you set up XG to play Snake against itself? When I first tried to a money game sesson(XG roller vs. XG roller), the game ended immediately with double/pass,and the second game started from a standard opening position, not snake. After switching the cube position (for the super-backgame side) and saving the game, I could not review the game, because it just keeped playing against itself and the only way to stop was file/close, and as a result the game/session could not be accessed at all.
