The rote play of 25/23, 7/6 (leaving zero homeside shots) is not very diverse, and leaves me asking "how are we going to win this game (with no outfield control)?"
25/23, 8/7 (leaving 5 homeside shots) shifts the 8-point to a better point. But the above question remains.
25/24, 6/4 (leaving 10 homeside shots) diversifies our homeboard builder distribution. This opens up the option of continuing making homeboard points (preferably on-head or when White is still treed) when White fails to enter on his 20-point and fails to hop into the outfield -- e.g. 3-6 roll. As a non-negligible bonus, our rearmost checker can play a 6, a number which is otherwise unappealing. We may actually be able to regain some outfield presence with that die.
I may be overplaying this (what else is new?) but I'll stick my neck out a bit, trying to find a longterm winning GP.
