Is it OK for kibbitzers to point this out?
I believe that it is. So does Rob Maier, the Pittsburgh director, as I made this exact inquiry of him after having noticed that the clock was not stopped between a game of the finals match Gary Fries and Sean Garber. I actually pointed it out to the players, then immediately wondered aloud if it was proper for me to have done so. One of the players said "probably not", I don't think at all in anger, but just in line with their interpretation of the rules. So I immediately went to Rob and asked him about the propriety of what I had done, and he agreed that it was okay to point this out- only between games, of course. If a player mismanages his clock during the game, of course kibitzers must remain silent.
Hopefully this will be a clarification made to a future set of rules regarding clock usage.
