Pretty soon the use the Illegal Move rule will become the default for EVERY impropriety in the game.

"You wrote down the wrong score? Illegal move -- your opponent gets to decide if s/he wants to accept the wrong score or make you correct it."

"The dice hopped the bar and came to rest or rollers LH side? Illegal move. Opponent may decide to accept the roll or require a reroll."

"While bearing off, a checker fell back into the playing field? Illegal move. Opponent's option as to whether or not the checker is borne off."
