Rules of backgammon

I am a strong advocate of baffle boxes with cups, not just to prevent cheating, but to prevent having to worry about people who don't shake or roll properly; and because it virtually ends cocked dice and dice being thrown on the floor.
As a result, I made up 10 good quality baffle boxes and have sold all but one, which I use myself. I hope my next batch will be collapsible yet sturdy....I'll let you know when my son if through perfecting the design...should be in the next month or two.
THERE IS NO GOOD REASON why players should not be required to use a baffle box if either player, or the tournament director, requests it, provided a box is available. The ONLY argument I've heard against it is that players aren't used to it and don't like it...both very weak arguments given the benefits and given the peace of mind for all involved.
I think some day we will see a board with a built-in baffle box that pops up when you open the board, and some day they will be standard for all tournament play.
We use the box now in our daily chouette and even most of the major objectors have come around, gotten used to it, and like it. (One reason they like it is that there are players in our game who roll "funny" or don't seem to shake after they roll a great number but shake hard after a bad one....even if that doesn't change the dice, it is distracting and irritating.)
