This is an interesting question. It seems to me that the majority of posts to this forum are on what I would call "non-technical" topics—opinions about the rules, gossip about well-known players, tournaments and other events, questions about how to use the bots, etc. These are all perfectly fine, of course; judging from the "views" statistics, it's what most people come here to read. But the point is that having more people post positions that they are struggling with would hardly "crowd" the forum. It seems to me that most people are erring too far in the direction of censoring their own questions as being "too basic."

And as for "detracting from the overall level of discussion"...I won't give specific examples but I can think of a lot of posts here that "detract from the overall level of discussion" far more than the posting of an elementary problem would.

But anyway, my point was that when a person who doesn't usually post positions does take the plunge and posts, then I think it's nice to give them some good feedback. Some people do give feedback, of course, but I think this is an area where the regulars on this forum can improve easily just by being alert to the issue.
