...Your thread title seemed a bit accusative. Did you think someone else knew before you did and should have scooped you in this forum? If so why not just say so? Or instead why not publish the link without the build-up?
Yes, I think it's safe to say that many here knew about this long before I made my initial post. (I currently believe it came out on Saturday.) I, in fact, knew about it on Sunday morning but (thinking it was a Sunday release) decided to wait for someone else to post it. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe I didn't want to be the first to deliver bad news. Maybe felt bad for Rod. Maybe I was hoping it would be posted with a NYTimes link. Probably I just wasn't sure what to do. I'm not a fast thinker/actor. (Possibly everyone was in the same boat as I.) After a few hours (and now, I realize, a few tens of hours) I decided it was time to break the ice.
Thanks for the review of the Post's recent history. I was planning on looking it up on Wikipedia, but never got around to it. Still, it was in the news, even if that was tabloid news. I don't know if this should be considered 'gossip' or not. The fact that a backgammon player's wife was murdered (can we conclude that?) is news in the BG world, IMO.
