I still don't get why I seem to be the only card enthusiast in the world to be bored by Bridge.

Bridge has three components and two of them involve communication. In particular, bidding is a detailed language in itself. "Declarer play" (specifically the offensive side where one player makes decisions for both hands while his partner sits out) is the closest thing to other card games. Defensive (partnership) play and especially bidding aren't at all common among card games I know of.

For me, bidding was/is far and away the most interesting part of the game.
