Efficiency of points

Not the entire story, I'm sure, but look at the synergy of points in the three positions:

Original: (as pointed out by Christian, and possibly others) 8-point makes the fifth point of the prime.

First modded position: 10-point, six away from the open 4-point, is already efficient. So 10/8 trades efficient points -- not as compelling.

Second modded position: 9-point is six away from an already made point -- very inefficient. (Also true of the 11-point, BTW.) So 11/9 doesn't improve the blocking structure.

As the value of the potential homeside point goes down, the arguments for minimizing shots and getting as close to home as possible goes up, at least relatively.
