USBGF - For the Future

A great idea, Chiva! I too will pledge to donate $1 per attending player at my two ABT events in 2010 and again in 2011. My recent LOS ANGELES OPEN (June 2010) had a total of 112 players. My check for $112 will be on its way this week to the USBGF.

As a tournament director, I support the USBGF, because it is good for the game. As a player, I look forward to our game perpetuating itself with new players and information for all.

I also sit on the Ratings & Stats committee of the USBGF. We strongly believe that our game needs ratings (ELO), stats (win/loss records) and opponent histories (e.g. Nemesis reports) as a means of measuring our game's players.

As Lord Kelvin said in the 19th century "...when you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind." The USBGF is insuring that we will know something about it.
