The real issue...

In Response To: My Rollout (Stick)

I don't like the frustration of entering an event where I have to play people that are so bad and more than likely I'm going to lose to one of them along the way. It is probably not kosher to come out and say it, but that's how I feel and the annoyance isn't worth it to me. It's the same reason I get fed up with poker MTTs. Often the aggravation isn't worth it to me and I know that going in. Take a second to think about how it must feel to almost always clearly outplay your opponents and come up a winner 65% of the time? It sucks. Don't bother telling me it's part of the game or that's something I should have come to terms with long ago with what I do. I know, I know, and I know.

Interesting, and it's also telling that this monologue comes in the middle of a thread whose initiation seems to me to have little relation.

You want to be the best, but your definition of 'best' seems to be that you can beat those who you consider at the top (Sander and Falafal, for example) in props. If it's simply your own self-image that matters to you, fine. But it sure doesn't sound like that's all that enters your mind.

To make matters worse (probably 'worst') you're sitting here reading this 'lecture' from a player who isn't half as good as you (and you and he both know it). But there's more to being a champion than firing the lowest error rate. Keep in mind that I really want you to be #1, too, because I think your potential is clearly that high, and you really are a good guy on top of it. But I don't think the quoted text above is helping you get there.

I finish by repeating what you said above: "I know, I know, and I know." Are you SURE about that?
