Backgammon analogy?

In Response To: PGA Golf -- OT (Bill Riles)

Suppose this weekend Bill and Tom decide clocks mandatory (assume it's in the flyer; this is hypothetical) and require settings of 1.5 minutes/matchpoint and 10 seconds per move. After Saturday's play there is much uproar because five matches have ended in time disqualification.

Should the directors have the option of upping the time settings for Sunday's play?
