I live about 30 miles (might be a bit less) from the CSI hotel, but most certainly won't be playing this event or any other in 2011 unless I can insist that I play all my matches with a clock. Additionally, I will give preference to attending clock mandatory events like Santa Fe, LA etc.

Clock mandatory is clearly preferable to clocks preferred, since while my matches and quite a few others will be clocked, there's always those matches where a clock isn't used and they can contribute to greatly slowing the event. At least with clockes preferred (either player can insist to use) I know that my matches will be very unlikely to contribute to slowing down the event and resulting in very late night or early morning play for others.
