I played a lot competitively myself, for six years from 1974-79. I also was close (as in occasional partner) to one of the top players of all time (and still one of the VERY top players today and likely for several more years) -- Eric Rodwell. Admittedly Eric didn't rise to the top 100 in two years, but that is because he was in high school (then college) and his parents held a very tight reign on his BG play. He wasn't allowed to even play in a sectional until the second semester of his senior year in high school. And, BTW, he won the Open Pairs at Indianapolis that very first sectional (January 1975), playing for the FIRST TIME ever with his partner who he hadn't even met until that weekend. Partner's name? Jeff Meckstroth.

Stick is as close a person to Eric in terms of appropriate skill level and attitude that I've ever met. (Note I'm not saying Stick could be as good as Eric, particularly not in such a short time, but that's not the contention. And, BTW, I'm not saying he could never be as good as Eric, either.) If he were motivated to achieve to top 100 (US) in 2 years (or less), I'm saying I think he could do it.
