Would using two sets of dice instead of one improve the flow of clocked matches (and by "flow" I mean both time elapsed for the match AND disagreements / director calls)?
Advantages for using a single set of dice:
1) Dice remain on the table after a player completes his roll, thus negating the potential (and very difficult to solve) situation where the players disagree on what the roll was (and consequently whether or not an illegal move was made).
2) Fast rolling is eliminated. (However "fast grabbing" can become an issue.)
3) There is no "hurry up and make your play!" shaking and rattling by the impatient opponent while a player is deciding on his move.
Advantages for using two pair of dice (in a clocked match):
A) ...It's about the rhythm of the play.
?????????
Talk about a subjective view. Using a single set of dice isn't rhythmic, or is less rhythmic than using two?
It's interesting that this person makes a point that (Dice cups) should only be used for players that NEED (them). Apparently it's not just about the "rhythm of play". This person has other issues with clock usage, and ones we've seen/heard how many times before? 20+ years of trying selective clocking hasn't taught us?
