Blue leads the race, trails in board development, and must leave a blot (and 13 shots) if he hits. Does sending that checker back hurt White? Probably in the race (but that ASSUMES no return hit). It does prevent White from upgrading the anchor, but otherwise allows the recycled checker to become a thorn in Blue's homeboard.

Of the non-hit plays, I prefer 8/2, 6/4. Blue needs as much time as possible to clear the many outfield points.
