In Response To: No Phones during a Match (Casper van der Tak)

Last month I was in Louisville during the ACBL Spring Nationals. I heard a story that a player's cellphone ringing led to a serious (although I don't think it was a DQ) penalty. If you are even detected with a cellphone (ON OR OFF!) at an ACBL sanctioned (weekend?) tournament you are penalized. NO CELLPHONES IN THE PLAYING AREA DURING COMPETITION!

I'm not sure that the rule needs to be this strict, but OTOH, I don't think such a rule can cause much harm. Last I looked the pre-cellphone world still rotated once per day and revolved once per year just fine without them.
