It makes sense to me that ability to get Jeopardy questions right would correlate poorly with ability at the probability/risk management aspect. Most people stink at that, bright and dumb alike.
To make one more correlation (at least regarding what I perceive as the education system in the US): 1) memorizing facts is rewarded; 2) calculating ability is rewarded; 3) application of ideas to everyday situations gets little attention.
I've always been surprised (and still am today) that many colleges/universities require calculus but almost no college university requires probability and statistics except for certain (specialized) majors. (And "critical thinking" classes -- don't make me laugh.)
After leaving a calculus class, I'd like to know what percentage EVER use it once the entire rest of their lives.
