What we've seen happen here is a defensive reaction to the WAY some ideas were presented. mtuhtan (wish I knew your first name) felt he was helping out the backgammon community. The way he went about it, though, brought reactions from the part of the brain he wasn't appealing to.
1) Is A website better than NO website? Yes, and everyone agrees.
2) Would a better looking website improve attendance? Mathematically the answer is surely 'yes', else there are billions of dollars being wasted by large corporations every year in advertising strategy.
3) Is the time and $-cost required to improve these sites the most efficient use of limited resources by (typically wholly volunteer) club organizers/directors/members? That one isn't so easy to answer, at least globally.
