Chuck Bower's formula, too

I'm starting to have second thoughts on using Art as a litmus test case. But I certainly don't feel guilty talking in general.
It appears as though you and I disagree on the 'audience' and possibly the medium of delivery. To me it's irrelevant who is communicating with whom, the size of the parties, whether or not the medium is a scholarly journal, or even whether or not the communication is recorded/archived. If an idea is sufficiently important and not well known, then giving the impression that this idea originated from your own initiative when in fact someone else gave you this idea is simply dishonest, IMO.
The gray area for me is "when is an idea new/rare enough to require giving/credit?"
Just to drive home a relevant (to this forum) example, IMO it is dishonest to consult either a person or a bot and then respond here to a posted problem as if you didn't have that outside help. (I strongly suspect you agree with me on this, based upon your practice of mentioning when you've consulted a bot.) But I've seen statistical evidence over a long period of time that at least one person isn't so scrupulous. BTW, this person isn't going to ask me "is it I?", so if anyone here is strongly considering asking, then relax because it's not you. :)
