The Chicago method was equitous.

Of the prize pool allotted to the top three, 1/6 was given to each player before the playoff. Semifinal was played for 1/6 (winner take all). Final was played for 1/3 (winner take all). ABT points were divided along prizepool lines, I believe.

Pretty sure this is the same way the playoff prizepool in Wisconsin (which Paul mentioned) was also divided. Bill Minser was on staff at both, BTW.
