I wasn't aware of how 'safe' NASCAR has been over its six decades. There's no question the equipment is much safer today so why haven't the deaths tracked that?

I don't know if person-miles normalization would change the stats. (Divide deaths/year the sum over all drivers of number of miles driven by each.)

But being one who lives, breathes, and preaches hard evidence, I'm going to do a bit of research on the INDY500 (for which I readily have data). Give me a day or so, please, Joe.
