Q: Please tell us about the improvements over version 1.

A: the page www.extremegammon.com/whatsnew2.asp details all the changes between version 1 and 2. In short:

Improved strength for instance V2 3-ply is allmost as strong as V1 XGR+

Faster engine: 3-ply analyze of a match is about twice faster. RO are about 130% faster

Localization: the program will be avaliable in English, French, Russian upon release. Japanese, Bulgarian, Hungrian, German, Greek are in the works. Also the program is fully unicode.

Clock support

Batch rollout

Enhanced opening book

Larger Bear off database and display of EPC.

Improved HTML export (both for position and session)

Custom font for improved printing and publishing

Q: A feature, I'd like to see implemented is to be able to see how many percents of my matches are won/lost from n-away m-away. As far as I'm aware, only snowie reports that. I think, it is a very useful and important tool to spot one's weaknesses and I don't think it is hard to implement.

A: Sorry, this is not present in this version.

Q: Last but not least, I honestly think, if a new buyer pays X dollars for the new version, someone who has already paid Y dollars for the 1st version shouldn't be charged more than X-Y for an upgrade

A: So, you say that if the price would not have change, the upgrade should have been free? that does not make sense (business wise), does it? The upgrade price is at half price, which is a significant discount. Of course, it's the customer's choice to see if the price matches the improvements, but i think it does.
