I agree with your Master Points x time decay factor. I also agree that backgammon results shouldn't decay as quickly as tennis and golf. Tennis stars begin declining in their late 20s, golfers in their late 30s, but backgammon players can keep winning through their 70s.
Other stats I'd like to see are: Average Master Points won per tournament (also decayed by time) and simple match win-loss record. Elo could also be added.
If we collected and posted these stats for the top 1000 players worldwide ... and updated them every week, backgammon interest would soar, in my opinion. Few of us can ever dream of becoming a Giant under the current voting system, but making the top 1000 might be attainable ... and tournament participation would rise in hopes of attaining that goal.
