I'm beginning to see the "disconnect" here

In Response To: A made-up game to illustrate some points about skill and luck (sita)

I think I see why I am having a problem understanding what is being talked about here, and I think others may have the same problem.

It is different if you are trying to measure the luck factor on each roll or each flip of the coin than if you are trying to measure who had the most luck when once the game has ended.

The game ends more often and sooner for the more skilled player, so that skews the luck factor when that event occurs. But on each individual roll or flip of the coin, the luck is the same.

This thought made the lightbulb go off and now I think I understand what you are talking about here.

Some of us are slower than others, and some of us just need different approaches to get it. I have found this out in my teaching. Some people get take points and gammon values from the numbers, and others I have to show them pictures of money and letting them see how much money piles up when they win the game vs. when they win a gammon.
