Why the dramatic fall in the redouble/take equity? Suppose White takes and immediately redoubles to 8. With a backgammon, Blue wins 11 points versus 24 for money. With a gammon Blue wins 11 points versus 16 for money. With a single win, Blue wins 8 points versus 8 points for money. With a single loss, Blue loses 8 points versus 8 points for money.
I think there are two important factors. (1) The value of Blue's backgammons and gammons is trimmed. (2) Blue has significantly fewer single wins than single losses.
Far from the whole story, of course, since a better analysis should refer to match winning chances rather than points.
