Making the barpoint gives White 19 rolls to send the blot on the 8-point back, gaining significantly in the race. I don't think it's worth trading+starting.

8/2*/1 looks like the GG play.

24/18, 6/5 has a nice feel to it. White is distracted from doing anything except attacking on his barpoint and Blue should get some returns from the bar.

I'll go with the major split.
