The value of X (hit-and-split) is to disconnect White's back checkers; there is a huge swing on 62 66 65 64 63. Getting hit with an ace is bad, but all White's aces would make point(s) anyway. Without all of that, S (the simple Split, 24/22 13/8) would be better.
