I have the option now to allow users to edit or remove their own posts. You have to be crazy to think enabling this is a good idea.

No, I'm not crazy. If v5.12 has an option to allow users to edit/remove their posts for a limited time I think you should consider implementing that option. In the example you cited, Paul could have deleted his own post and reposted in the proper thread, instead of following up to his own misplaced post two minutes later, asking you to move it.
